Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusivity
Born out of a five-year experiment at Surgo Foundation, Surgo Ventures has rapidly grown its small but mighty team of health and development experts and public and private sector professionals. While our official headquarters are in Washington, DC, 39% of our 28 colleagues are based elsewhere in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, and India.
We are proud of the diversity of our team, our commitment to women in science, and the inclusive organizational culture that we actively promote. At present, 64% of Surgo’s team are women and 50% identify as non-white. Our groundbreaking initiatives originated in India and Africa, and we made key hires to ensure that we had authentic and global representation. In fact, 54% of our staff are citizens of countries other than or in addition to the U.S.
As we continue and deepen our engagement on the health and social inequities endured by so many people around the world—and that were exploited during the coronavirus pandemic—we reaffirm ourselves to that same commitment and representation.
